O’Hoey there!!! Autumn in Albert Park :)

Autumn is by far my favourite time of year to do photo shoots – full of golden tones and dusky light.

When the Hoey’s asked me to take some family portraits I jumped at the chance of taking their shots  particularly as the brief was to cover streets and areas that they loved living in as a family over the past few years.  Armed with my camera and several toys for Matilda, we hit their neighbourhood, Albert Park, and took full advantage of its beautiful tree lined streets, parks and cafes.

I think Anne-Marie, Ben and Matilda’s personalities reflect streets around them – the colours are warm and vibrant and the streets are full of love. Perfect backdrop for this super cute family 🙂

Beth & Rich’s Urban Wedding

Beth and Rich approached me 10 months ago asking if I would be interested in taking their Save the Date and Wedding photos.  I had taken Rich’s sister and brother-in-law’s photos (Alex and Patrice) a few years back and they liked the style of my shots.  I hadn’t shot a full wedding in a couple of years and I wasn’t sure if I could do it (self-doubt always creeps in when I knew I could do it).  After a pretty cool Save the Date shoot in Cremone’s back streets (see blog post 3 below) and realising how photogenic Beth and Rich were, I thought – I can do this.  Beth and Rich were awesome – we worked out a plan of attack – 5 locations starting with the Groom in Hawthorn, Bride in the Melbourne CBD, Marriage Ceremony in South Yarra, Wedding Party shots in funky Carlton and finally the Wedding Reception at Two Ton Max in North Melbourne – phew! Logistics were full on but we got there, had a blast and these are the results….

Hampton Halloween 2017

Trick or Treat!!! Halloween came round again and this year I had no outfit for the kids Halloween Party that I had been invited to down in Hampton. Rummaging through my poor excuse of a dress up box, I pulled out a Tigger onesie (pathetic I know..) but I also grabbed my camera on the way out of the door….and I’m glad I did as I managed to capture these little legends (and their parents) in full Halloween flow 🙂

Save The Date!!!

I was fortunate enough to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon with Beth and Richard scouting about Richmond for some cool locations. Beth and Richard wanted photos to be used for their Save the Date wedding cards and that they were thinking of having an ‘Industrial’ Melbourne theme. I think we came up trumps in Cremorne – the couple look fantastic and the photos look awesome – it really fit the brief. Here are a couple of shots of this very handsome couple in action….the 24/7 winning shot is directly below…. 🙂

The Melbourne Shhhh Speakeasy Wedding….

Gabby and George asked me to come along to take photos at their Melbourne CBD wedding…..yep, these two lovebirds wanted a small intimate affair and I promised (pinky promised) that I wouldn’t say a thing…. I’m pleased to say that the double G’s have now given me the go ahead to post away 🙂

This wedding was cool – epitome of Melbourne – quirky, casual, warm with laneway appeal including a 1920’s speakeasy cocktail bar and a food celebration at Claypots Evening Star…gorgeous. It was a lovely evening that matched this lovely bubbly couple to a tee xx

Sometimes Photos Just Jump Out at You…

One thing that I have learned during this photography lark is that there are sometimes photos that just summarise the moment or jump out at you. It’s these photos that really make me enjoy photography, capturing that moment and freezing it in time… Here’s one that made me smile 🙂

Darcie

I was asked by Ele and Vinny if I would take their baby daughter Darcie’s christening photos.  I’ve always been a little nervous when it comes to taking photos of babies – mainly because you’ve no idea if they will howl and scream or giggle and gurgle into the camera.  Darcie, being the cutie she is, was an absolute gem – such a gorgeous wee girl to shoot and very photogenic.  These are some of the highlights…

Alex and Patrice’s City Wedding

Back in May 2014, I shot a beautiful city wedding for Alex and Patrice.  Patrice hailing from France and now calling Melbourne his home met his wife Alex shortly after he first landed on Aussie shores.  The couple’s big day was influenced by Patrice’s French background and Alex’s family’s love of classic vintage cars – as you can imagine the wedding was classic, sophisticated and marked with a blush peach toned sunset at the end of a golden Autumn day.

Lexi & Emmy with Gran and Papa

They say you should never work with children or animals…. On this occasion, my tiny models, Lexi and Emmy, were going to smash that myth by strutting their best moves and ensuring that Gran and Papa were involved in the action.  I’ve known both of these little ladies since their ultrasound photos and even then the camera adored them.

With Gran and Papa visiting from sunny Scotland, I was asked if I could take some relaxed family photos of them in their Sunday best down at Melbourne’s beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens.  Between the ideal setting, and the admiration between the grandparents and the girls, this was a lovely photo shoot that brought a smile to my face when viewing the results on screen.

Super cute…..with lots of hugs, love and giggles…. and here are the photos….

Hunting Street Art in Fitzroy

It’s the holidays and I’m using it as a good excuse to get out and get snapping.  On my own little adventure I hightailed it up to Brunswick St, Fitzroy with the aim of hunting down the vast array of street art on show.  Fitzroy is one of those areas that you turn down a laneway or a corner and BANG another SMACK of COLOUR hits you between the EYES.  Vibrant, young and funky are 3 words that pretty much sum Brunswick St up.  Here are the shots from my graffiti adventure…
